"But you're wild," Pinion objected. "You don't have to rely on humans to live. Why would you do that willingly?"

The crow shrugged. "Why not?" it asked before taking another sip of its human-made drink.

Pinion opened its beak to answer but didn't know what to say. Instead it watched the crow as it drank, collected more stones, and drank some more. Finally Pinion identified its feeling to that of resentment. "If I lived out there I wouldn't ever rely on humans," Pinion asserted, stamping its webbed foot for emphasis. "Never, ever, ever!"

"If you lived out here you would know that nobody feeds you so you have to feed yourself," the crow deadpanned. "It makes life easier. You sound angry, flamingo."
