Quintain responds to your laugh with an infuriated glare and draws himself up to his full height. "Well," he announces, "if that's how you're going to act then I'm leaving. Goodbye!" he retorts over his shoulder as he disappears through the archway by which you came.
All of this leaves you with no choice but to continue. You start to walk when Sir Escart speaks to you.
"Oh dear," he sighs. "Quintain may have his demons, but he can be a helpful ally. I fear you may have lost an opportunity. Still, at least you won't get an arrow in you from walking through the range. On with the quest."
