You emerge into a new space, and it's only your quick reflexes that stop you from taking a step into thin air and plummeting to your death! You wobble as you place your foot back by its twin on a small, square wooden platform, which appears to be cantilevered to the side of a very tall tree. The mere act of looking down makes you realise you are a long way up: when you try to see how far away the ground is you get a rush of vertigo and grab, trembling, for the trunk of 'your' tree.
You are in the middle of a forest, almost at canopy level, with nothing but trees as far as the eye can see. Well, trees and an impressive array of rope bridges, platforms, swings, and shelters.
In your ear you can hear Sir Escart chuckling. "What an interesting find; this is Merry's playground! Although, dungeoneer, I can't quite fathom how you managed to find yourself here. The dungeon seems to be in quite a strange mood today. Merry likes to keep his coordination sharp, so he made his own lair up here in the tree tops. And it does help him to keep away from the goblins." He pauses thoughtfully. "I think your exit is across that rope bridge."
Great, you think. There are no handrails: it seems Merry is an acrobat of advanced skill. With your heart beating so hard you can hear it in your ears, you shakily begin to traverse your way over. Wherever you can, you stop to grab a tree trunk and whisper reassurances to yourself until you've stopped shaking enough to continue.
It has been a while since you ate. Reduce your Life Force clock by 1 (from green to amber or amber to red). If you survive, continue.
Roll a dice. If you get 1-5, you reach the far side and can continue your journey. If you get a 6, you overbalance and fall to the distant forest floor below, a fate you do not survive.
