Pinion decided to hang back and watch the storks for a while longer. Chasing sparrows struck it as ridiculous behaviour. The sparrows presented no threat, that much was obvious. Perhaps if it waited for longer the storks would do something that made more sense.

They mainly stood around looking sour. Once in a while one of the bald-headed birds would briefly preen itself, or stalk over to some other part of their enclosure to poke around at something, to toss some food into their gullets, or drink. When they did they occasionally passed too close to another one of their flock for comfort, and when that happened one bird, and then the other, would open their wings and raise their heads in a half-hearted display of threat. They never escalated but neither were any of these mostly-silent arguments reconciled with any warmth.

Pinion decided that the storks had little to no bond with one another. Certainly not like the parakeets did.

Soon enough one of the storks came to stand close enough to the fence that Pinion could hold a conversation with it, if it chose to.

It looks like this is Pinion's chance. What would you like it to do?

- Invite the stork to have a conversation

- Stare at the stork and hope it notices Pinion

- Ignore the stork
