Pinion looked in the direction the sparrow had flown and nodded. "Serves it right. That is your cage, after all."
The stork grunted in response and gave Pinion a surly sideways glance but said nothing else.
Both birds fell silent and gazed at the familiar environment of the stork's enclosure, with its tree stump, lake, shelter, and pile of sticks. Had Pinion been expecting the stork to say anything else? Maybe, but since it didn't, the arena was clear for Pinion to speak again. "Do you particularly want to be stuck in that cage forever though?"
"What d'you mean?" the stork asked, and Pinion couldn't tell from its tone whether it was suspicious or irritated.
