You take the stairs two at a time, as quickly as you dare. Once you're around half way down you turn to look back up but see no bear in sight.
Sir Escart chooses this moment to speak up. "Well done dungeoneer, you made it to level two! Don't worry about Old Jasper, he strictly limits himself to haunting the menagerie; he won't follow you down here. Leave everything in your inventory behind, here. They will be no use to you now."
Cross any physical items you are holding off your inventory. You may keep any spells.
With that done, you look down the stairs and continue walking down, with greater trepidation this time. They are rather unkempt, with uneven bricks, and your descent downwards takes you away from the entrance above, which is the only source of light.
You examine your Life Force. It is red; you must restore it soon.
