That answer made Pinion angry but, as usual, it suspected that getting truly angry would only scare the bird away, never mind that they were both around the same size. With that in mind it made a conscious effort to keep its feathers smooth and its wings tucked calmly at its sides.

"I... thought you might say that," Pinion said, feeling its way carefully forward in this conversation. "Would you mind telling me why? It's just that I get told that by other birds a lot."

Had it expected the stork to respect it for saying this? It wasn't sure but the stork scoffed.

Pinion kept its head steady and waited patiently for the stork to give a proper answer.

"There's something fucking wrong with you, isn't there?"

"Is there? What?" Pinion asked, its voice level.

The stork looked at Pinion as if it had just eaten another flamingo. No, that wasn't the look. Pinion suspected that if it actually ate another flamingo then the stork wouldn't goggle at it in quite that way. Then the stork gave up - if it even been trying to come up with the right words to start with - and said, "Ask another bird."

And then it left Pinion by the fence alone.

No answers, eh? Maybe Pinion needs to reassess its options. The link will take you to all of the options it has.
